Can the swingarm be drilled and tapped? 2007 Yamaha FZ6.
Normal is an illusion, what is normal to the spider is chaos to the fly.
I don't know about drilling it. I've seen people weld something on, and I've seen adjuster blocks with a hole for a spool. I think cycle cat made them.
i would assume u cant drill and tap the swingarm because there wont be enough material ?
I asked this question on another forum, since my CBR F4 doesn't have threaded holes. Rivnuts into swingarm for spools - Band Of Riders
I ended up having a machinist I work with whip up some threaded tabs, and I pulled the swingarm and had the welder at work TIG them on.
In hindsight, I probably would've just used the rivnuts, and then remove the spools before riding, if I was concerned about a crash ripping apart the swingarm. Or bought a swingarm pad stand. Oh well.
The FZ6 has a centerstand though. And the kickstand is what drags first, not the centerstand.
Confirmed: kick stand drags before center stand*
I want paddock stands more for being able to do some work on the bike without it falling (front and rear wheel removal ). I want to lose the centerstand just because I'll no longer need it. The sidestand hitting first is suprising actually so that might get removed on track days. I had seen rivnuts mentioned and l can get them from work just wondered what people thought of drilling that large of a hole in the swingarm. The swingarm is probably much stronger than it needs to be to begin with.... right?
Welding tabs on looks like a very sanitary solution.

Your bike has a painted black swingarm, so the paint would need to be removed before welding. Plus, you'd need to actually remove the swingarm to get it welded, and to do that you'd need to suspend the bike somehow.
I remove the wheels on my FZ6 without stands. Put the bike on the center stand, and then some wood blocks tall enough to lift both wheels off the ground under the header. I *think* I used a 6x6 and a 4x4 - way cheaper than stands, and takes up less garage space too!
Axle block sliders or a pad stand.
A man of many names...Jay, Gennaro, Gerry, etc.
Is there a reason the area of the wheel adjustment blocks can't be drilled/ tapped for the same effect?
If l drill the wheel adjustment blocks, l can't remove the rear wheel while on the stand.
