I would like to install a quick connect fuel line to my vintage race bike. I have seen a lot of plastic ones anyone have any feedback on these.
Also, I need to slightly Modify the petcock opening on the gas tank to except a Pingel tap. Drained tank and letting it dry out. Using a Demel would be quick and easy or even a round file I don't need to remove much, should I coat the inside with water before I blow up!
I used something very similar to this for years with no complaints. Did exactly what I needed and didn't leak fuel when disconnected.

Edit: looks like this specific one does not stop fuel from flowing when disconnected
I'd recommend checking out products from CPC. They make lots of disconnects, both plastic and metal. I assume you want a "dry break" one, which shuts off flow when disconnected?
Something like this:

I used the plastic ones on my FZR, no issues though they do restrict fuel flow a bit for a given line size, something to be aware of.
5/16 line and dry break would be optimum. thanks for the input.
Buy extra sets, that way you can have one end on a drain line for fast tank dumps.
On the Pingel, be prepared to have to fuck with it to get it to flow reliably. On my GS I had to eventually pull the screens off or I'd starve my carbs for fuel, which is impressive considering it was a 40hp 500E that didn't exactly slurp gas at a high rate. I like the idea of Pingles, I'm not a big fan of the actual execution. Depending on the bike I've had better luck finding OEM units, typically from dirtbikes that can be crossed over to the existing OEM bolt/opening pattern.
My issue with the tap is I added Keihin CR 29s, so no vacuum and gravity taps for my 77 KZ are very hard to find these days. I have run Pingels before and have had no issues
I fit the Pingel to the tank, had to Dremel a little bit (fitting a round tap into a rectangle hole) Drained gas, used a fan to vent the fumes, put the tank in my slop sink filled with water and run water over where I was cutting. Still taking about it so it worked. Now drying tank.
