Just found a replacement header for my 2002 ZX9R...was running a smaller set of pipes of a ZX6R..the replacement is looking a bit dingy, but its the larger diameter and has the correct crossover pipe..any problems with spraying it with header paint...I've seen guys wrap the pipes with exhaust wrap but somebody told me the bike would run hotter with the wrap..?
The more people I meet, the more I like my dogs.....
That header paint work real good. I used on bike exhaust before.
I haven't used the wrap, but supposedly it insulates the pipe and gives you more horsepower by keeping more of the hot air in the pipe and flowing out the exhaust.

Wont powder coating eventually flake and chip off because of the heat? I was under that impression...

KAWASAKI RULES WOOOOO!
you can powder coat with "jet hot" its a specific product made for the heat - wont chip. I use black header tape and repaint it every season with black hi temp silicone paint. Looks good and like Rambunctous said it keeps the heat off of your leg.
I've tried just about every way to paint headers on my buell, NONE of them lasted more than a few weeks at best before flaking...
Best bet is to wrap them or send them out for Jet Hot Coating... Just my .03754520
