The stock ZX4-RR is restricted to mid 50's bhp in the USA. The power peak is really soft and the fueling is neutered after 11.5k rpm. It will rev to nearly 15k but nothing is happening after 11.5k on USA bikes. It feels like a long over-rev built into the bike. An ECU flash is required! I don't feel the uniqueness of the bike was worth the outlay of nearly $10k to get one out the door. Maybe it's my 2022 XSR900 for the -same money- that I own. That bike is EXCITING!
I think I was hoping for something a little more unique. The bike looks exactly like a ZX6-R. It's really hard to tell the difference in a quick glance. Also its cheap money to get a ZX6-R right now. They are available. The real draw was the 4-RR 15k redline. That with a aftermarket pipe and a tune will sound like a turbine howling away. Worth the squeeze? Yes. But to me right now I am spoiled by other bikes. Will it become another FZ400 legend? Time will tell. It does feel light and small. FAST after a flash and a pipe might be what I would have held onto and purchased.
Dyno charts tell the story.

Send cash... I need a track day
I thought they were closer to $12k otd?
The 10K was bike plus shipping and dealer paperwork. No tax title etc. I think it was high 11K out the door for me.
I will say that I wish I had one in the garage and had the space and time to ride a track day... It's a great bike in that size. Just not the right time for me.

Without the remap, and
before enabling the quickshifter, and
just after a ride through crowded surface roads to get the bike inspected...
I can already tell this is going to be the most fun motorcycle I've ever owned.
For my weight (160ish before leathers and whatnot), the suspension is firm yet plush.
Even with less than 10 miles on it, the gearbox is smooth as silk.
The bars have a little rise to them, but not quite as much (I don't think?) as the Ninja 300.
Super comfy to tool around on, and the stock exhaust note even has a *hint of growl to it.
I'll obviously do a PowerCommander or remap to uncork it and get the temps where they ought to be, and maybe do something to the airbox, but I think I'll keep the stock exhaust unless I start turning competitive laps. For the cost of an exhaust, I'd probably rather do a steering damper.
This bike f'ing rules. 100% agree with ducatirdr about the paint scheme though, and if I do track fairings that example photo is probably what I'd stick in front of the paint folks.

Mine was $11,132 out the door at Nault's, and I made zero attempt to haggle on any aspect because of the shit all the dealers went through during Covid. (And also, why would they budge?)
Plus another $6xx or something to the MA RMV for tax and title, so yeah call it high 11's all in.

Thanks Kurlon, I'd been wondering why no one was mentioning PC in the same breath as the ECU flash.
Easily extracted / shipped / returned / reinstalled?
(I should really just look. If it's anything like the 'magic box' under the seat of the 701, it should be dead simple.)

I too have noticed the world of flashing has changed. It is so common for bikes to be emissions neutered, features held back, etc.
Back when I was a kid you pulled a pin our of an old computer cable and jumpered the ECU to get rid of the soft rev limit on the rc51, now you hook up to your bike with your cell phone!!!
I'd love to uncork my Pan Am... stupid HD consent decree with the EPA means instant all warranty voided despite that going against the Moss Magnuson Warranty Act... and I've got an extended warranty.

I'm tempted to get some flashing hardware from Woolich, but sending the ECU out for ~$200 is undoubtedly the right first option.

Watching and hearing Dave Moss do an initial setup on this bike (sadly not for me personally) was a pleasure.

I swear he watches this forum for video ideas. He is never far off from current topics on here.
Still haven't uncorked it. Still fun as hell. Despite the lack of "bling branded" brakes/forks etc, all the stock bits on the bike work amazingly well (at least for my size/weight). The gearbox remains so f'ing smooth it's unbelievable. Turns out the way to make a great quickshifting experience is to start with a great gearbox and then just add quickshifting. Shocking, I know.
