XR100 vs XR70 - anyone ?

Anyone have any idea if a 1999 XR100 is about the same seat height as a 1999 XR70, or is there a significant difference?
I'm thinking about getting a bike for the kids. Gerard's XR70 seems to be just about the right size to start them with. I'm wondering if an XR100 would be too big...

Why buy one, just keep Gerard's! I do think they are bigger. If that's what 685 was riding it's bigger. Honda should list them on their site. The kids are going to have a ball!!!

From seeing 'em at the track I'd have to say the 100 is a bit taller.
Just keep G-spots. He can get a new 100.

Having worked at RMS.. the XR 100 is about 5-6 inches taller in the seat.

I just looked the XR70 has a 25.8" seat and the 100 has a 30.5" seat.

I saw a local ad for a 1999 XR100 for $1200. If the seat is 5" taller than the XR70, that may be too much to start them on. I might go check it out just to satisfy my curiosity. The 70 seems to be just the right size.

Steve Larochelle has that Kawasaki that's just about the size of the XR70, and I think it's a 100...hmmm...gonna have to look into those as well. I know yamaha also has something that size...I wonder if 'zuki does also?

Mark...the kids would LOVE to get a minimoto, but they're not ready for one yet. There is too much opportunity to go way too fast for their ability right now.

The Kawi is the KLX110 and the Yamaha is the PW 90 although the 90 is very small. they also have the TTL 125s about the same size as the XR-100..

Honda does have the XR80 it splits the difference between the two with a 28" seat height.

A small quad is even better a tool for small kids to learn on. Lets them get the feel for shifting and braking, but they don't hafta deal with the balancing and tipping over............YET!

You can also extend their riding season with a quad, giving them more practice time. Sheesh! Is that what Kip's gonna sound like?

Gordo, you can get minimoto with less than 4hp if you want and they have a throttle set screw, mine has about 10hp for comparison. Plus, you live on a good road for the kids to rip up and down. haha
