I'd like to get a crankcase set cleaned up on one of my projects, but don't want to use abrasive media. Can anyone recommend a place for vapor blasting or soda blasting, within about 50 miles of Boston?
Thanks,
Kurt

He has a Vapor Blast cabinet and wants business. I've seen the motorcycle parts he's blasted and they look beautiful and feel silky smooth. My Buell swingarm is currently at his shop.
The cabinet:
Example with left side vaporblasted, right side untouched.

Wow, I'd never heard of this before. Check out this amazing thread with the before and after pictures:

The gold star motor is pretty incredible, it appears to be fresh out of the foundry.

Hi guys, I'm Dmitry!
Got the idea from the Mods & Rockers Pete (JockeyJournal link above) was looking to have some work done however he stopped doing a while go this and that's why I got a machine, to my knowledge there is no one in New England offering this service.
I can go on about wonders and benefits of this process but I think he already did a good job describing it, can tell you one thing for sure, I's NOT Snake Oil, nothing can duplicate the result, not soda, not dry glass bead. There are limitations to this process, prep work required, etc.
I'm leaving on a week long road trip in few minutes, will be checking in from the road so if anyone has any questions I will answer them when I get a chance
John, Dmitry,
Thanks -- I'll measure up the cases and be in touch. In the meantime, I'm heading out for a ride ... and a swim ... before it gets too darned hot!

Dmitry, let us know when you're back in town! I wish I'd known about this earlier :-(

I've never had anything blasted before. Should I go for soda or vapor? This is the instrument cluster on my '69 El Camino. Well, not mine, but this is what it looks like. It's thick, lime-green plastic:
Dmitry, what would it cost to blast something like that? I'm down in Providence for work pretty often so I'm sure I could swing by and say hi.

Plastic is a tough call, bring it by and we will see what can be done. Had done a plastic brake reservoir and it looks better, but still not factory finish

Can't believe those silencer pics are real! That is incredible. You could sell them on eBay as "New In Box"
trying to get all the "before and after" pics in the same place
