I'm bored at work, and looking at those beautiful Triumph sporty standards.
Which do you like, and why?
Yummy!

I like the speed. Single swingarm, the grunt of the motor, and I think it just looks better.
speed triple all day long.

Yeah, I hear that if you like twins, you'll LOVE the 1050.
Speed!
speed!
Speed Triple is fantastic, must be one of the flattest/smoothest torque curves I've ever felt. There are 375 reasons the Speed is better than the Street, and $6/cc for the extra displacement is a pretty good deal. Of course the Street is about 60 lbs lighter, so it really just comes down to whether you want more agility or more pull.
I'll take the torque, please.
Speed Baby.. all the way..

Obviously as far as performance goes, both the Speed Triple 1050 and the Street Triple are way more advanced, but as far as looks go, I actually really like the T309 Speed Triple of the mid '90s.

how's the durability & maintenance in these things? i heard triumphs have issues
Are you sure you're not confusing classic (Meriden) Triumphs with modern (Hinckley) ones?
The old ones ('70s and earlier) are famous for oil leaks, faulty electrics, etc. The Hinckley Triumphs (1990 and later, introduced in the US in 1995) generally have reliability on par with the Japanese companies.
A friend of mine has a 2001 (or maybe 2002?) Speed Triple with something like 60,000 miles on it. No issues. I've got a Bonneville (air-cooled twin) with over 27k on it, no issues aside from replacing a coil (for the sake of comparison, my Honda needed a new CDI box). There are plenty of high-mileage Sprints and Tigers out there. Great bikes all around.

From what I've read, the braking is also significantly better on the Speed than the Street. My next purchase will be the Speed Triple.

Speed Speed Speed Speed!!! Oh thats 4 times!
I love the torque of the speed, but the ST3R makes for a more nimble, track-worthy package.
