Anyone have first-hand experience with Suomy helmets?
This appeals:
"astonishing vertical and peripheral field of view (super wide 92 deg and 210 deg)."
TIA

People who wear them love them, but as Jim mentioned, they're not super common. I've never worn one for a significant period, but a lot of racers seem to like them a lot.
Yep. Agree with all said above. I've had to order mine on the internet based on independent research of "how they fit" (i.e., reading a lot of shit on the internet and taking a chance). I love 'em, but will admit I do not always get the sizing perfect.
But I'll keep on buying them.
The Suomy Vandal was the nicest race helmet I ever, ever, ever, ever, ever had. Sad they discontinued it awhile ago.

Thanks ^^
I like the description on line, the "window" size, ventilation, light weight of course. And "intermediate oval" shape which is what I wear in ARAI.
I guess my specific question is, how would it be for a street helmet?

It depends which one you get.
I currently have a Suomy Speedstar and its a great street helmet. It has an internal sun visor and good sound dampening. I loved the Vandal because it was soooooooooo light and nimble. It was loud, very loud. But I never hit the track without earplugs so it isn't a problem. When I commuted I didn't use earplugs so the Speedstar was great. I also used it on the track too and it was fine.

I had one for about a year. Interior was a crazy comfortable velvet-ish material. I don't really remember how loud or quiet it was.
They are hugely popular in Europe but not here. I think there are a few dealers in NH that carry them. I did try all the models on when I bought my last helmet but none of them fit right. I felt they all had a narrow profile, much like a Shark helmet. Shoei fit me the best so thats what I ended up with. They were all really nice with bold graphics which is like a magnet for me.
The Suomy features appeal to me ... but without trying them on, I'll probably stay with ARAI intermediate oval for now.
Thanks for all the comments ...

Let us know if / when you get one if it's a good deal, looking for a new Arai as well.
I’ve had a few of them. Very light and lots of airflow too. A little Noisey though, but that didn’t bother me

I used to buy arais and now have suomys. I think the suomys are superior and more comfortable.
I had a sr race, now i have an SR-GP carbon. They have been my race helmets. I haven't crashed one yet though.

I also agree with CEO .I have had Arai in the past but prefer Suomy.I have three.Just recieved my Biaggi replica from Motionde from the Netherlands.
OK, I'm in -- I pre-ordered a Suomy SR-GP from MOTO-D in CT, Scott there said their 2022 shipment should be in in a few weeks. I can wait. Guess I'll be waiting to see how many "a few" are.
To order, I emailed and told them what I wanted, then Scott sent me a PayPal request.

I've bought from them before, and wanted to support and deal with a local, race-oriented business.

I have one that I bought at one of the LRRS races back in 2007-ish. Someone was selling them in the pits back then, I don't remember who. I tried it on and immediately bought it. Super comfortable and light and had a good reputation. I moved to another brand because they are hard to find locally, but maybe it is time to consider searching for a new one...
IIRC there's a stateside distributor who feeds to various online retailers (speedaddicts, revzilla, etc.).
I also have bought from chromeburner which seemed to come from the netherlands but they were very nice and responsive to emails (went into warehouse to get a good date for me, for racing).

Information update: MOTO-D just let me know that Suomy has pushed back delivery til mid-May of the style I wanted. But they do have another color scheme that I like in stock, so I asked them to ship.
More news as it happens ... .
