If you can ride, you can ride.....that being said I wouldnt think it to be the ideal weapon.
Top heavy and heavy in general.

Catamount will probably be able to tell you after the 10/2 LAPS trackday
....strip off all the xtra chit, put some sticky rubber, should be a servicable weapon...certainly for track days.
for racing you'd need a bellypan and probably wouldn't be too competitive...but, what do I know...

My friend Tito rides a Speed Triple 1050 on the track frequently. He loves it.
For what it's worth, the older Speed Triple 955 might be a little better on the track because the seating position isn't quite as compact -- you can spread out a little more and not be quite so upright.

I'll most likely be tracking my SPD3 on Sept. 29 and Oct 13. I'll let you know how things work out. I'm gonna strip off any unneeded weight. I've been riding this bike for 3 season now. Its a great twisty shredder. Short wheel base, tons of Torque, and great seating postion. My SPD3 has clipons for a more forward center of gravity, and to make tucking in easier. The biggest weak point of the bike has to be the forks. Which will get adjusted soon.
Top speed on the street is around 145 mph. I would imagine the SPD3 would work out great for Louden. I'm not so sure about the faster tracks.
I'll be finding out soon though.
My old 636 was ideal. It was light, nimble, and plenty of torque.
I took my speedy to loudon a few times - no problems.

That's right, back to a 2 cylinder, 3 cylinder, and a 4 cylinder.
As a DEDICATED track bike? There are certainly better options out there for less money, but it's capable of giving anyone some grins.
As a STREET and occasional Track Day bike, do it up.

It's a 2001 I'm looking at, fairly stock, w/ 17k on it. Currently I have a fully faired TL1000S with a bunch of mod's including an Ohlins out back and 'busa forks that will be going to Traxxion this winter. It's got a Scotts steering damper as wel..... Also, I have very little seat time on the TL...... Any comparisons?
