Does anyone have experience getting a motorcycle registered in MA with no title?
(I am interested in buying a used motorcycle but owner does not have title.)
Depends on the Year....

Depends on where you're buying it from also. If you're buying from a state that doesn't title that particular year, just bring the prior reg/bill of sale and you'll be good to go.
it ll probably wont happen
better be dirty cheap to even consider getting involved. If you know its a legit bike but the owner lost the title or something you may have some luck in getting one. If its a bike thats newer and the bank has the title or its stolen nithing will help.
Post up some info about it and some can help you either way.
It's a huge PITA at best. I've been trying to register an enduro that I have only a CoO for and I've gone 4 times to 4 different registries and gotten 4 different answers why I can't do it. A little different than your case but the MA RMV sucks.

I thought VT was the answer.
NH the vehicle must be "title exempt". Which means 15 years old.

It's my understanding that if you DON'T have a title in NH, you'll need two documents. One being the previous registration, the other being a bill of sale (the PREVIOUS bill of sale would be REALLY good to have too). $25 for a title application fee and you'll have a NH title in less than two weeks. I may or may not have uhhhmmm...'helped' one or two very close friends with this at one time or another in the not-so or very distant past. Or not, maybe...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
I did a drz in vermont then brought it to ma no problem, give more info about the bike though... what year, make, model, where it was stolen from, etc.
I have been wondering this for a while. Do you really need the previous regs? What if the vehicle has not been reg'ed for quite a while (ie barn find, track toy, etc)?
This is straying OT though. Someday I'll start a thread for my specific regs/title q's. Preferably with the letters NH in the title.
isn't it similar in MA?
previous owner's registration and the bill of sale is enough

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
First thing is to check the VIN to find out if stolen. Not stolen + no title = cheap track bike
I only stated what may or may have not worked FOR ME, in NH and the process I may or may not have had to follow to title a non-titled machine or two, maybe. You can question me all you want, that doesn't matter. I was told 'this' is what was needed, I produced 'it'...maybe. $25 & 10 days later and I had a NH title in hand, maybe. And it may have gone down that way more than once, allegedly. Again, these are the steps I was told I needed to take. I did - maybe, maybe more than once, or not, and got non-titled STREET bikes titled...
If you have specific questions about the process, you can do your own legwork and strut on down to your local town clerk and gather the information yourself. Dig?

Stoner....time to take a brake...youre getting a little paranoid.
I just need to call my town clerk. She knows me. (Upside of living in the town you grew up in.) And is usually exceptionally helpful. She helped me dodge some extra taxes and fees when registering my current bike couple years back.
The DMV substation on the other hand. They bust my nuts over using the wrong color pen to fill out the apps!
And really, if I can't reg the SV, no biggie. I bought it okay with not being able to reg it. I ran the VIN through NICB and that's enough for me.

Or not..maybe. Allegedly, perhaps. Maybe...
Yes. Having familiaration (thanks for that one G-Dubbya!) within the clerk's office probably helps. Or having a friend that lives in a small town willing enough & having enough trust in you to 'buy' the bike, title it, then 'sell' it back to you could certainly help to. Or so I'm told...maybe...

My worry is I have NO past registrations for this bike. All I have is a BoS from the PO. And this thing hasn't been street reg'ed in a LONG time.
Although NICB does not show the VIN as stolen or salvage.
There is a thread on ADVrider where a guy bought a bike that he checked against NCIB and it was clean there but bike was stolen.
