Re: Rate your LEAST favorite helmet.
Fulmer. It was so uncomfortable that after wearing it for about a minute it gave me a headache. I guess I shouldn't have expected much from a $90 lid.

Gear Nazi or no...
I am trying to see what EVERYONE thinks. Some people might be educated by these polls.

Re: Rate your LEAST favorite helmet.
I am surprised at the HJC points.

Re: Rate your LEAST favorite helmet.
My first lid was an HJC, I fell on it and was no different than before. Then I had an ICON, also fell on that one and, again, no adverse effects. Now I have a Shark. I've crashed with it on, but it hasn't touched the ground once. I'll keep buying them for that magical power they have to completely avoid impacts.

Re: Rate your LEAST favorite helmet.
Doc,
Are you narrowing down which helmet you will accept sponsorship from for your sponsored hawk rider in 2012?

I am gonna buy you the one that wins.

Re: Rate your LEAST favorite helmet.
DOT is DOT, Snell is Snell.
I've had Arai's, AGV's, & Scorpion's. I like them all, I've crashed in 2 Scorpions and have had no issues.
Now I don't crash.

I had to vote AGV, not because I don't like them, or they are my least favorite, I would love to buy one BUT
of all the helmets I have tried on, I couldn't even get an AGV over my ears, they are just not the right shape for fat oblong my head

I think reads like this link are far more useful. Not to say this thread isn't good for it's entertainment value.
It would be even more interesting to me to see a best helmet poll for maybe 3 price points.
Something like best lid under $200, 350, 700. Of course you would have to base off average achievable street price (a rule like the price must come from a non-eBay affiliated online vendor or something like that) and not those crazy one time deal's that you never find again.
It's just my opinion but wouldn't that be a bit more valuable to know? Otherwise it's just like saying, whats your least favorite car manufacture, Porsche, Audi, Hyundai etc.

Love my HJC AC-12 Carbon.

My point is to get the bottom 10 helmets. This way maybe we can influence people to avoid them.
Looks like HJC, Icon and Pep boys will go to the next poll. I will keep doing polls to narrow it down.

Re: Rate your LEAST favorite helmet.
I know I said I'd stay out of this but...
The same amount of people voted for Arai and Fulmer? What is wrong with you people?

IMO this poll is very heavily biased. Look at one of the comments already, "I voted ICON because of who they market to, squid and stunters".
If the helmet does its job in a crash, why should you avoid it? Because people don't like the way they market the helmet? That's the stupidest, most ignorant thing I've heard in a long time.
I see sport riders bitch about how much they hate Harley "bikers" or BMW riders because of their snob better-than-thou mentality. This is the exact same thing, except with track riders.

Re: Rate your LEAST favorite helmet.
just ordered a agv stealth
anyone have any info on these??

If it does it job in a crash I agree you shouldn't avoid it. I would argue that you should want the helmet that will do the BEST job in a crash.
Sure a Tupperware bowl will do a "job" but do you really want to be wearing on just because it looks "cool"?
I think we can also understand the money issue. People go out and mortgage the house so they can have the newest, fastest, bestest bike and they buy the helemt and possibly some gear as an afterthought
-or-
Someone buys a helmet and wears it for 10 years because they can't afford another one (or are ignorant to the fact they should replace it) even if they crash in it. How good of a job will it do all dried up and rigid? Better than nothing? SURE. But shouldn't they get educated somewhere?

I have one I use on the track. I find the chin bar kinda close to my face. It is rather loud and just seems cheaper than my XR-2 (which it is). I am looking for a new lid.

My point is predominantly that by your own words, this pole is to determine which helmets people should steer clear of based on what people think of the companies themselves rather than actual safety.
The poll is only going to result in which helmet manufacturer people hate the most.

Sorry. Not what I meant. The poll is to determine what helmets people do not like (using all the knowledge they have)

:stupid:
Its not its a bad helmet, it has a bad reputation, which I dont believe in the least. To encourage someone to stay away is kinda stupid.

:plusone: Some of my friends make fun of me because I spent more on my gear than I did my bike lol so I never understood how people buy 10k$ machines but can't afford a decent lid or jacket. I will say that I had an HJC that did it's job very well when it was called upon and now I'm wearing a shoei rf-1000.

Re: Rate your LEAST favorite helmet.
I traded this in for an Arai...the old one was more comfortable though....

you cant really make a judgment on this unless youve tried ALL of them.
