ok so im out on the market for a new bike, and ive come across a few. im here to ask for peoples opinion on what is an overall better bike...2005 R6 or 2004 gsxr 750. with the mileage everything else aside, which is historicially a better machine....for a 6'2ish rider
brand un-biasedness would be appreciated, but its not expected![]()
1995 Yamaha FZR600- my learner, sold
2001 Yamaha YZF-R1- stolen
2005 Suzuki GSX-R 750- cutoff by an illegal U-turner and totaled
2007 Yamaha YZF-R1- stolen... R1s are a hot commodity, huh? any anti-theft system suggestions?
Current: 2009 Yamaha YZF-R1

I'll make an attempt, for 6'2"?? Neither. I would say the ergos are close, I hear the R6's feel like you are on top of the front wheel.
I have an 04 750 that is just great, has a New England performance engine; however, a lot of my racer friends switched from gixxers to R6's and love them.
I'd say since you have other Yammies, assuming you like them, then stick with the brand you know.
You may want to shoot R7 a PM, he probably knows a lot more about R6's.

I can't comment on the gsxr because I've never ridden one and know nothing about them.
The 05 R6 is said to be the best year of that generation, including the 06 to current R6s. Only year for inverted forks, big improvements in the fuel injection over the previous years, and there were a few other small items removed once it was called a R6s from 06 on.
I had an 03 R6 (same style as the 05) and I still think it was one of the most comfortable sportbikes I've had.
My unbiased opinion, get the Yamaha![]()

I would lean towards the gixxer on this one, I'm 6 ft 1 and feel it accomidates me very well. However, I have never tested a Yamaha and am kinda partial to my 750 !![]()
ive never ridden an R6 on the street. my G/F has an 02 750 that is fun to ride. im sure the ergos are different than the newer ones, but it hurts my hands when i ride it. then again i dont do many miles on the street anymore. my SV does the same thing. im sure either would be fine
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

Not for a street bike. Not at all.
+1... the 05 is a good mix because you have a couple unique upgrades like the USD forks and such... but the bike itself is still the previous generation, much more street friendly bike.
Those R6's are quite comfortable and will easily do track day duty.
