Looks to be in good shape. Usual rebuild, strip it, clean it, paint it. New fluids, new tires, new chain and sprockets, check brakes, clean carb
Anyone familiar with these bikes?
80cc 2 stroke, with a clutch!

For $85!!!
I have something similar sitting in the back of my barn, 1982 KDX 80. I bought it for $100 with intention on getting it up and running for a yard bike.
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
I was lucky enough that this was "paid forward" to me. Someone was given the bike, their kid used it for years, then it was given to us.
Unfortunately, my son Tyler who is a dirtbike NUT is only 4 years old, so this clutched 2 stroke is a bit much..... it fits my 7 year old daughter better, but I still think the clutch is a lot. They both can ride the trx90 quad with no clutch easily.
I think we will end up getting a 50cc bike for him to rock for a couple years, but I love a good project and the bike was free so I couldnt pass it up.
looks like a sweet project ... yeah, go with an Oset or PW50 for the 4 y/o and a PW80 for the 7 y/o. the PW80 trains throttle, shifting and brake control without having to deal with a clutch, great stepping stone from the 50 which is F+R hand brake only ... then you can rock the DS80 with them.
oh and sell the quad![]()

Definitely sell the quad.
My son is 3 1/2, he’s ripping on the balance bike at this point, probably almost ready for pedals. His birthday is Feb 26th...I’m thinking he’ll probably be seeing a KTM 50 then.

Ha, I told my son if he wanted a dirtbike he would have to learn to ride with no training wheels. The training wheels were gone pretty quick!

Whats wrong with the quad?!?!?!?
I dont think the 7 yr old will ride much, she is more the rainbow and unicorn type lol.
Got a better picture for the first post!
This is the parts so far, hopefully this will cover everything other than tires and possible carb kit.
Coulda cheaped out more here and there, bent the rear brake rod back, bent the shift lever back, used a hardware store washer, etc. But I have like $100 in parts so not too bad really.
And forgot the blue rustoleum for the frame!!!!!!!!!! Its on the bench.

two wheels too many![]()
.....
nice on the parts list, super basic stuff, you're psyched. i wouldn't bother with painting the frame, looks pretty good in the pic. just clean the whole bike really well, think you'll be surprised. if the plastics aren't too brittle yet, just rock 'em.

I've got an ultrasonic cleaner that'll be great on the carb FYI.
I already have the paint, and I have the time since nobody will be riding it this year so I'm definitely gonna hit the frame up. The plastics are actually great! No scratches, no cracks, still pliable, and only the rear fender is sun damaged!
