Hey everyone,
I have a coworker from NH interested in taking the Basic RiderCourse...
Looks like the course is available through both the NH DMV ($155 for NH residents) and the MOST school ($300). I'm gonna speculate that the DMV is subsidized by the state and MOST isn't, but that's besides the point and not all that relevant to my questions, which are...
Obviously the course is standardized, but for those that have personal knowledge of the MSF course in NH, are there any differences that would make the MOST school a better overall experience?
Doubt it, but thought I'd ask.

I have taken the course through the DMV. Its like you said, an accredited MSF course and for the $155 if you take it at the right location they have the bikes there for you. I haven't had any experience with the MOST one but I would rather pay the $155 and get the same education then pay more. Just my 02 cents.
Another option is the rider academy that HD dealers offer. Seacoast HD in N.Hampton does one. I am unsure of cost though.
I did the H-D class at Laconia H-D a couple years ago. Cost was like $250 I think. My understanding was that if you pass the class, you don't have to take the state test, you get your blue card and can go straight to the DMV and get your license with the motorcycle endorsement. It was a bit more money that the DMV class, but as I could also get in a lot sooner in addition to skipping the state test, that's the route I took.
Passing any MSF Beginner RiderCourse will get you your license without going to the DMV for a specific license test.

When I did mine in MA each place offered their own discounts. I asked if I had 3 or 4 more riders can we get a special price.. and we did. I had a friend get his out past worcester, and his price was lower than our discounted price... probably because overhead was much much cheaper.
You can march straight to the DMV to get your license.. provided you do your initial learners license before.. and pass it of course. They said it would not work if you had not already gotten the learners permit ahead of time. Just a heads up in case your friend needs to do that before they take the course.
My understanding of the role of MOST in NH is that they are the sole privately run school in NH - the rest are DMV run. I doubt that they provide a better experience but may have better bikes/ranges/equipment.
I do know that MOST has several sites so the real advantage is not having to wait to get into the class. I bet the DMV is full up as they offer far fewer courses. Your friend could also take the class in MA and use the completion card to get their license.
I also believe that MOST allows one to ride their own bike. I believe that the MSF classes require one to use the provided bikes.
This is here say.
