I'm looking to put my Daytona SUper III back together this weekend and the manual calls for Loctite 648. No one local to me stocks it. My friends have: 680/640/635/620/609/246 compound.
Can I use one of those instead? Or does anyone have the correct 648 they'd like to lend/sell me?
Thanks!

back together this weekend
Usually ships in 3 days.
Yea no.
What are you doing with it? Holding gears on a shaft or something?
ebay?
Garrett,
Where are you located? Even if I can find some here at work it may not work depending on your location.

I think he's in Hanover.
Vibra-tite 548 is the same as Loctite 648.
Yep down in Hanover. A friend of mine has 620 which I read on another forum from a Loctite rep it is the same as 648 but has a higher temp rating.
I'm sure the 620 will do what you need it to do. 648 is rapid cure and seems to have a higher shear strength. I'd say the reason for it is to keep that outer bearing race from spinning in the case.
680 looks like an alternative also.
Personally, seeing it's the dead of winter I'd order the 648 and put it together another weekend.
609 retaining compound would do the trick and then some.
We use it all the time for this type of application at work.
The older I get the Faster I wuz
Yup, Hanover not so near Haverhill or Peabody.
Hope you can get your hands on some in the time frame you need it.
