I swear I saw a Ninja 250 that had a 7 stuck on in place of the 2.
It looked just like the 250, same angular fairing, etc.. nice and small.
But it said 750R down on the lowers.
Has Kawasaki always made a ZX-7? Or has it been a 750 at one point?
Ben
Probably more than you wanted to know:
Kawasaki made the 750R from 1987-1990, with no changes except for paint. It was their "softer" Ninja, more of a sport-tourer than the GSX-R750, FZ750, and Interceptor. It's about 500lbs wet, not too shabby for its ilk but way more than the 250. I think the visual similarity comes from their being designed around the same time.
I've owned mine about 7 weeks and 3500 miles. I like it. It's comfortable, smooth, and fast. Dyno'd at 85hp last year, again not bad for the vintage.
The ZX-7 came out in 1989 but was an entirely new bike. (Though maybe the motor was derived from the 750R -- anybody know?)
Ben, this is the bike you saw, right? (Maybe with a few more stickers and one less goofy guy)

Yep, that's it.
Thanks.
Ben
Although not exactly the same steed, Kawi made fully fared 750 'sportbikes' before then too. ZX750R's (GPz's) '84-'86 come to mind...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
My friend has an 84 GPZ 750 turbo <---factory
He would appriciate it if you could tell him why it smokes so fucking bad, hasn't been on the road for like 6 years and I think his rings are gone. Lower compression in the 2 inner cyl.
