Where is in New Hammy. Will someone tell me the town it runs thru. I have been looking for it on Mapquest and can't find it. I wanna take a run up there . Thanks
Hurricane mountain rd starts in N Conway right off rt.
16, (across from the scenic overlook) It goes up and over and I think you still in N Conway. If not, Take a right and stay on that rd, it take you back out to rte .302 in Conway near were the outlets start.
Take it easy on this road, especially going down. The elevation change is deceiving and you can easily get airborne. I got a pic of the old SuperHawk getting about 2 feet of air under the tires with saddle bags. I gotta find the pic. Fun road though.

haven't seen a washout there yet. HAVE gotten completely airborne. That was a new experience.
I wanna hit that rode up sometime. But I can't help but think if I keep hitting all these mountain passes I'm going to dump it eventually. I have a tendency to ride a bit faster than I should.

I was on Hurricane Mountain Road yersterday with Stiggy. It is in really good shape right now, but by far this is the most dangerous road in New Hampshire. I have ran this rode 20+ times. I almost lost it it was wet.
I will post the youtube link of Stiggy and I hitting it up about two months ago. Watch it in high quality. I two wheel drift off a corner and then just hit it and go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pb43Pu8UqhE
The video is shot from the Tail of Stiggy's VFR

It's not too far from T Rd.
Personally I disagree with Randy -- I think Hurricane Mountain Rd is way more fun. Hurricane Rd is largely in terrible shape (badly cracked/deteriorating pavement) except for the repaved section at one end, and there's nearly always sand in the corners. It's definitely not a road you rip like you do T Rd or the App Gap... but then again, neither is Hurricane Mountain Rd.
Hurricane Mountain Rd is like riding a rollercoaster. A lot more sudden elevation changes than Hurricane Rd, which are a lot of fun.
Both roads are not really what I'd consider sportbike roads. They're best experienced on a dual-sport or motard.

HMR is a challenge to say the least. Not for the faint of heart. I rarely get out of first gear on the whole road. It is also very narrow and two way... Yikes
This road would be awsome on a motard. A 600cc sport bike is almost as good:-)

Stiggy and NinjaJim turned me on to this road this season. Personally I like to rip it from East to West... that is to ride up Rte 113 from Conway, take a left on 302 over the Saco river and then right onto E. Conway Rd (I think) then just stay striaght for about 8 miles. It intersects with Green Hill Rd on the East Conway/Fryeburg, ME line.
The advantage going this way also you will avoid the traffic in Conway Village. Being airborne is a definate so hold on and enjoy it. Watch for oncoming cagers, though.. the road is only 1½ lanes wide at most!
Enjoy!
my favorite roads are those like hurricane Road, 1st gear corners, last time I was on hurricane road (last october) I didn't think the pavment condition was that bad, I spose one winter could have made the difference, or maybe I just didn't see much of the pavement cause it was covered with pine needles
both are very technical roads, another similar favorite road in Joyce Kilmer road

Very fun road, off the saddle most of the time.

minor shit, makes it more of a challenge imho
to me, the perfect road has imperfections,
I've seen Hurricane Mountain Road morf over the years, I remember before any pavement, even been partway up in winter doing a survey job, we had to plow to the jobsite, Its not something I consider a destination, I use it as a link to avoid portions of conway, but, its too unpredictable, occasionally some fool kid bottoming out his "sport" car, mountain bikers & hikers galore, and a growing LEO presence... I have seen conway pd with radar trap at the top
just as often, I avoid white mountain traffic by using Jefferson Notch Road, Sandwich Notch Road and similar roads
Some of best roads in state are small camp roads in lakes region including some along the shores of Winnipesaukee, not this time of year, in fall, after summer people are gone, on a Tuesday morning about 9:20am
there only one corner on Hurricane Mtn Road that I really like, the sharp hairpin on the way up on the North Conway side, powering up out of it is awesomethe front wheel leaves the pavement while your still leaned way over on the side and you have to stand up and lean over the front to make it come back down to the pavement and steer thru the next curve
