My V-10 has almost 250,000 runs like new.
My Cummins has 173k+ on it and still runs strong. Even with the original auto tranny. With a few simple relatively cheap add ons you can EASILY get a Cummins to push 500+hp and 1000+ ft lbs AT the rear wheels. That's without any drugs (propane or nitrous) and only on a single turbo. All it takes is a box (fuel controller, ignition advance), injectors, exhaust, free air intake, and a turbo. The big factor is the auto tranny needs to be BUILT to handle that power. A 6speed only needs a clutch to get it to the ground. How I wish I had a 6speed....... Nothing like running in the high 11's with a 7000lb truck with all factory options that will STILL get 17mpg and be fully streetable!

My Durango (5.9 V8) has 104,000 miles. Started shifting like crap about 1000 miles beyond the 36,000 mile factory warranty, and still does. It's always attained abysmal fuel mileage numbers with ease. It's been unreliable and unrefined in most measurable ways as the miles have piled on, but it does work quite well for towing and we sure beat the heck out of it with our boat.
I would not buy another Dodge today, but at the time I did buy it (1999), Toyota and Nissan did not make anything that could tow 7000 lbs and transport a family so I really did not have much of a choice. In hindsight, I think a used Suburban with a big block or a diesel may have been a better choice.
I'll never buy a gas motor in a truck or big SUV. Diesels are sooooo much fun and easy to hotrod... sorta like a Chevy small block back in the day. Now if only ever gas station carried diesel fuel (the only drawback). But with a 34 gallon tank and 17mpg I only need to fill up once a week if that anyways. Plus I can pull/haul just about anything. And I LOVE turning on the box and smoking out anyone that tailgates me! And ya gotta LOVE that turbo spooling up and free flowing 4" exhaust... mmmmmm:drool:

A few examples of DIESEL POWER and what 1000 ft lbs of torque can do.

Any of them you Chip ?
Nope.. non of them my rig.... yet. I have an Edge comp box on mine and a 4" MBRP stainless exhaust. Next will be an intake, turbo, and injectors. But before I can wire my box into the fuel pump to get full power (right now I'm only getting an additional 40 hp and 150 ft lbs but once it's wired into the pump it'll max at 120 hp and 350 ft lbs) I'll need to have my tranny rebuilt before it'll stand up to that. Right now I can make it slip in OD with the box on if I push it. But there DEFINATELY is a difference with the box on. Once I get the extra cash to do the tranny ($3500.-$5000 with full billet shafts) I'll be using it to tow the bikes up to Epping then also running it while there

Andrew, do you see what you started?????
I'm gonna pretend I didn't see the water in that video:poke: I don't think there's a truck on the road that couldn't "drift" at that speed... on wet pavement:dunno:Quote:

All in good fun of course:snore:
On a good note, that video did link to a really cool GM engine, naturally aspirated (sp?) 572 cid big block gas making 720hp:drool: Hello/goodby diesel, and no black smoke to stink up the skies:D

having tried to do drifts before in a truck, I learned that you either have it or you don't. Now my friend he could take his '92 POS V6 GMC 1500 and drift all the way around a rotory wet or dry.
A hole in the ozone layer right above this thread! :DQuote:

Drifts in a truck are easy to start but hard to hang onto with no weight out back.Quote:

My 2.7 Taco hangs it out nice and tidy I might say :D
Don't worry the black smoke will patch the hole in the ozone....:poke:
