I remember a while ago there was thread about race gloves and how they hold up in a crash. I just posted on another board about the importance of gloves and figured I'd share my thoughts.
I low sided going in T1 at Loudon a couple of months back and had a brand new pair of Held Phantoms on. (Yep, new gear, should have known.) I have a good amount of video of myself at Loudon so I'm guessing I went down at about 70ish give or take 5mph. The Kangaroo and Stingray held up great but the stitching did actually give way where the roo meets the stingray. My hands were unharmed and I'll just have to get the seam repaired. I'm impressed with the wear but and the impact protection. I'm not sure if I can really ask for more out of the stitching. I think they held up well.
Thoughts?
My right hand was planted into the ground as I was sliding towards the grass. My left glove barely has damage. There is a slight scuff by my wrist.

I have the same gloves and have crashed them several times. The comfort and build quality are second to none IMO... not sure you can ask for better crashability that what you've pictured there if you weighed down on your hand in the crash.
considering the cheap A* gloves I've had come apart at the seams from simply wearing them, the Helds seem to crash impeccably...

+1 on Held gloves.
I've got the Galaxy (I think) and they've held up to some pretty high-speed dismounts. Some road rash and a missing rivet on the palm from a T1A crash when I tried to dig my palms in to help slow myself down (too many crashes on skis, it's an instinct). This is their 4th season racing and I don't see them being permanently retired for a while, though they will probably be replaced soon by a pair of those Phantoms.....
I've got the Held Titans... everyone got to see my superman off the back of a sidecar in them... wore through the palm stingray skin, but no further. Hands A-Ok, so I'm happy. I'm still wearing them, and plan on sending them to Held after the season is over for refreshing/repair.
Impressive. JRide how far did you slide on your right hand?

Held galaxy is what I use. Great gloves for throttle feel.
I have the exact same gloves and I have to say they are the best ones I have ever had. The feel is amazing. It is good to know they will hold up like that in a crash.

Held Akira's here. One crash and very little damage. I've only got about 10k miles on these gloves but I'd say with out hesitation that they are THE finest gloves I've ever owned. They are a bit of cha-ching but well worth it.![]()

I recently bought a pair of used Helds (not sure the model, they're not here) from Mr Squirrel. Bitchin' feeling gloves. Nice armor, thick padding, etc. They've also been crashed quite a few times (not sure # or intensity, Daniel can chime in to that if he reads this) and they're still nice and intact. I have no issues trusting them.
+1 for Held. I have the older Profi glove.
I shattered My Hand wearing those gloves

Gloves are designed to protect against MOST crashes Nothing will ever protect you from ALL crashes

I was just kidding buddy! The things I was using before wouldn't protect from jack... the ones you sold me are bitchin' gloves. That's why I said thanks for the hookup!
That looks like a painful one, btw.
Funny, they match the suit you gave me so well I figured you wore them with that same suit. I guess not.
