Like I said in my last thread, I am very near purchasing a bike. Can some of VT bikers clue me into what needs to happen when purchasing a used motorcycle? I know I need insurance, transfer of title, inspection (if it hasnt already been done this year), and registration. I've been doing reading on the VTDOT website, but it is the worst website of all time. Also, I'm not an out-of-stater, does anyone know if I can still get VT insurance without being a resident???
I hate this stuff, but I guess its necessary incase you're in an accident or something.
thanks in advance,
P
How old is the bike?
Bill of sale, or title signed over to you, Register at DMV, get plate, get insurance and go get it inspected. Done.
Do you have an address in VT? (Parents) Give the Insurance company that address.

It is not a requirement to be a VT resident to register or insure a bike here.
You need a title from the seller if it is a 1995 model or newer, anything older only a bill of sale is needed.
( Except if it is under 300 cc, then no titles are ever issued. )
I hope that helps.
