Soo this baby just got delivered Friday. 2009 Triumph Street Triple R with a Daytona 675 motor in it. Bike has a salvage title because it got in an accident and cracked the head on the motor, and I can't complain with the donor motor that's for sure. It also has the full Arrow 3-1 lowboy exhaust. SS header, Ti can, CF tip.
Rode it for 250 miles yesterday and man is it a hoot! Wayy much more torque than the R6 and more top end! It feels muchh more flickable and light especially at lower speeds. It's much more comfortable and I was still taking corners at about the same speeds as the R6. So it's a win-win-win situation! Not to mention it sounds like pure sex.
Someone came and picked up the R6 this morning so it was a quick swap.

Nice unit!! Have a blast with it!
Very very nice. I really don't want to test ride one of those, because if I did I'm pretty sure I'd have to buy one.

Nice! Congrats. I got an '09 too. Don't have the Daytona motor but I have a set of D675 cams that might go in this winter.
I thought the R was standard with the Daytona frame and engine...
So Talus all you have to do is drop in the new cams and you've got the R's engine which is the Daytona... I think...
Mell0 the bike is beautiful. It was good ride yesterday with you and RSW81.
Nice ride, i love the Euro bikes. they have more soul![]()
That's a neat machine.

Very nice, congrats
how much if u dont mind me asking"?
So basically we'll have the same setup once you throw those in. How are you planning on having it tuned? Dynoed or reflashed? I kind of want to get a dyno with the daytona motor and lowboy exhaust but am not really sure where to take it around here.
Kind of. The ST3R has the same suspension, brakes, frame (not subframe), swingarm, and motor (minus the cams). And thanks. I detailed it (again) today and I keep falling in love with it every time I look at it. I LOVE the color too. I might be riding the week of thanksgiving if ]anyone is down to bundle up!

Good to ride with you Andy and congrats on the new bike.
Correction Kenn: The STriple does share the Daytona's frame and basic motor aside from the cam shafts and the "ram-air" of the body that the Daytona provides. Triumph claims that this adds hp at speed. The R only gets you the suspension, brakes, and a tighter rake that is closer to the Daytona's.
Nice.. I have a daytona motor sitting in a crate waiting for funds to build it up and slap her in.
Street Rs imo are the best all around bikes on the planet. I'll be doing 400 street miles Tuesday and the track on Monday in blue group and won't have a sore bone in my body.
That is one sexy bike mell0. Great find have fun with it.
I am going to put a Daytona w/ full exhaust tune in once I do the swap and then bring it to shop and have it professionally tuned. Harry's Machine was recommended on the forum. I called him last week and left a message and never got a reply. I've also seen Rob recommended. This is the thread:

Mostly. The Daytona has a steeper head angle (steering geometry) than the Street Triple. Also, the pistons & con rods in the Daytona are forged and not cast, like in the Street Triple. Doesn't pertain to your bike, but the '12+ Street Triples have different cylinder liners, which is why they lowered the redline on the brand new models.
I ride if the temp is 40+. Once it gets into the 30s I'm done.
That's a damn good price you got!
I really want a street R, but they are so expensive. I went with a speed four, which is basically a street R little brother. Got mine for $3000, and love it. Sometimes I think about saving to get a Street R, but the speed four is sooooo similar. Both looks and engine.
Congrats! I test rode one at Americade and loved it.
mell0,
BAR
END
MIRRORS.
Haha I was thinking the same. Kenn has the triumph/rizoma ones that come out from the end of the bar and go over your hand, but they want $70 each! That's absurd!! I love the way they look (much better than the ones that stick out the sides) but i can't justify $140 for mirrors!

Hey! In the end of the day I'm still a poor college kid with a triumph (not sure how that one worked itself out)! If you would like to donate said mirrors I certainly wouldn't be opposed.
As of now that's the one mod I for sure am going to get. It's looking like the competition works one is going to be the winner or I may have to fab one up. Again triumph aftermarket parts are unbelievable overpriced. $120 for a metal (or plastic) bracket with 3 lights attached to it?
