Hey guys, I've got a chance to pick up a 01' Triumph Tiger 955i with 1100 miles on it... that's right... 1100 miles. It's dirt-cheap too.
The bike has an alarm, Triumph hard-bags, Metzlers (90% tread left on them), and a Givi tail bag (helmet trunk).
It looks like it was stashed outside for a few years, some minimal rusty bits, tarnish, some scratches... but it runs like a champ.
From what I've researched:
104hp Triple, 67ftlbs torque.
6 speed, chain drive.
Floaty above 80mph.
Good seat, windscreen, and amazing exhaust sound (i can vouch).
I've gotten over my obsession of the VFR800 and have moved on to looking at this puppy as my next step up.
I need something that's more comfortable on my 40 mile commute than my GS500 and something that I can still be a bit of a hooligan on without killing the bike... I've ridden my dad's KLR650 to the edge of it's ability on the street and really love the high ride-height, light front end, upright seating position, and gradual power-delivery.
I'm sure this Triumph just bumps up the best features of the KLR, but delivers more bang from the motor, not to mention 6 gears that will make the highway more of an enjoyable experience. Throw in the 80/20 tires (rather than the 50/50 on the KLR), big passenger seat/back-rest w/Givi trunk, and oh.. I don't know... 1100 miles?!?! I think I need to buy this.
Any thoughts? Anyone actually ride one? Looking for kind of a positive/negative review here.
Thanks in advance!

The Tiger 955 is a great bike, and Triumph should never have stopped making it. I want one.

I have a 06. Same motor, almost the same bike (they made them more road oriented in 05 and 06). Bought mine used last year and have since put around 9K on it. The bike does everything well imho. Wife and I tour on it; she got tired of riding on the back of the 95 speed triple. Go for long rides when I can, and commute with it daily. Even did a track day with it last year. If you go over to triumphrat.net, there is a whole section for the tiger.
Good luck with it

I rode Zombie's a bunch. The prick wouldn't sell it to me. Eff you, Mick.
They're an awesome, dead reliable, do everything bike. If you dont want it, give me the info, I'll go buy it.
there a great bike, but i guess it depends on what you want to do with it.
i thought of mine as a 150mph dirt bike with luggage.
the only reason i sold it was to get a gsa

I have a Sprint RS 955i with 86,000+ miles and still running strong, I can't say enough good things about the engine. I've drag raced it, done several trackdays with it, thrown on saddle bags and toured all day on it for weeks on vacations, beat the hell out of it on weekend fast rides with friends, and it keeps coming back for more.
Awesome... I think I found my answer.
I'm going to go talk to the guy asap.

I think about sums it up
Bras cause cancer.
Like everyone else said talk to Zombie...He rode his tiger up to Alaska last year, he loves that bike. I recently rode it last weekend for a couple hundred miles and I enjoyed the ride and my wife loved sitting on the back for the trip and said it was very comfortable.
That's exactly what I've been looking to hear. My gf will be pleased... and my dad actually test-rode it the other day... said it's nicer than the BMW GS800 he test rode.
I think I may be going to the bank tomorrow...![]()

It's mine! It's in my garage! And it's in a million pieces awaiting filters, oil, coolant, and a fresh outlook on life.
There was a HUGE nest in the airbox and tons of little bits and pieces that were dry rot, mainly vacuum hoses, boots, and such.
No biggy.
