Not a harley guru but a quick cl check and they seem to be in the 5-7 thousand range....doesn't sound like a bad deal.
Yes , that is a fair price.

my research dictated the same...craigslist showed ~4k at the lowest, and that NADA low retail is still higher...anything lower than that was a 80's/90's bike...even then they hold their value well
HMMMMmmmm...I'm going to hit him up after work

The sporty 12 is a fun bike, by the way....
No way, I bought a super low mileage 2005 Roadster for around $3,800. Wound up selling it on eBay after many, many prospective buyer s fell through.
Was reliable, anyway. Very basic bike with cheapest-possible suspension components but paint and finish is flawless. Wide cases and 3" rear suspension travel (and that's a full-height one) make cornering a leisurely affair. You can go 110-120 miles on the 3.3 gallon tank. 04 should be a rubber mount and the engine vibrates like a snow thrower at idle but is pleasant cruising around.

I'd say the guys asking $5-7k for an '04 sporty are reaching for the stars with it being mid-summer and riding season in full swing. Price for that bike should be anywhere from $2,750-$3,500 all day long depending on condition.
that's what I figure...lotta ads probably on craigslist w' inflated prices/unsold, so it's not a true indicator of what bikes are actually worth
seems like a fair price, but not a "oh shit! buy that thing now!!" sort of deal

People ask crazy money for them, but yeah, $3k is a good quick-sale price. He could probably get $3500-4000 if he was patient.
2004 is a good year too. Rubber mounted and carb'd. I'm assuming it's got an absurd amount of money dumped into it too, since they all do.
