Hey guys, I need help with getting a good rear tire that will fit my 2009 ninja 250R. I have new battleaxe BT-45's I need a good track day tire that will fit well without pinching and provide some good grip. I think that I need to exceed the stock dimensions because the only 110 and 130 tires available are pretty bad tires for track days. The bike has 17"x3.5" in the rear and 17"x2.75" in the front. I would like to use dunlop Q3's but they are only available in a 160 rear which will not fit onto my bike without some modifications. I could get proper sized slicks much easier and without modifying the bike so that seems like a foolish route to go, but I know very little about fitting tires. I assume the new Ninja's can accommodate the larger tire but from what I have found online that would be excessively large on the 09 and would pinch very badly, not to mention it will have only a few MM of clearance from the chain. From what I can understand, a 140/70 and 120/70 front is as large as I will actually use without huge chicken strips, many of these size tires are available in a 4" or 3.5" but no one actually carried the 3.5" options. It seems like the Battleaxe BT 003's with a 110 front and 140/70 rear, in my rim sizes, are my only/best available option in the US and I can only get them though amazon. An alternative would be Pirelli Diablo Rosso II, however they have more tread, are more street oriented, and the BT 003 is only a few $ more. The BT-003's are widely considered the best option for the 250R on Ninja forums, however I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with sticky DOT tires for the 250, or if this was as much of an issue for them. I would like to have my tires scrubbed in before my next TD, but if i need to go to the tire guy to get something decent I will do that.
Looks like Dunlop Alpha13s are a popular choice in that class (110 front, 150 rear):

I think they are DOT legal, but not positive.

Looks like pirelli makes one in the Diablo v2. 140 rear is available in both sc1 and sc2 compounds.

Consider this my recommendation for Pirellis on little bikes. The 140 and 150 fit just fine.

The Supercorsa V2 in a 110/140 or even a 120/150 combo is what we've got a number of racers and trackday riders running(on Ninja 250 bikes). No fitment issues on stock wheels.
That said, I'm not sure if you ride this bike on the track primarily, or the street. The Supercorsa is a race/trackday tire, so even on a small bike it wouldn't stand up to tons of street miles like some of these other options would.
