I just picked up a 1987 Yamaha BW350 for my wife and and am making it street legal for her to bop along on the coast, I will surely use in mud/snow. Right after this pic I power washed the engine and got the loose paint off, the next warm day I will tape off the frame and hi-temp paint the engine. The carb is coming off and going to Hobbs next week..
I have been considering removing the hand guards with directionals off my Hypermotard (go with small aftermarket directionals) and can easily put them on the BW. When I removed the stock plate holder / lights off the Hyper to put the under-tail holder on I made the mistake of throwing the stock in trash, could have used those too. It already has a hi/low bean headlight and I will use the air horn off her Ruckus for horn (also have one on bicycle which is a life saver on ocean Blvd).
I will need a cable style front brake lever with brake light activator - the rear light activator is easily available online. Here is an easy light control fix.
I will update when complete
That looks fun as heck.
How tough are street conversions in NH?
Maine lets you register with a bill of sale + receipts for parts used in conversion, but then getting an inspection is a different story.

my town clerk told make street legal - take it to inspection shop for form telling that it is now legal and she can then register it for me.

Cool bike! Good luck getting it running right!
do they make dot street legal tires for that?...are the tires the same size at the tw200 (if that's the case you're all set)?

That is my immediate challenge. TW200 tires are too tall..

does what the title say matter at all up there?...thought these were off road only
Thanks Point, I have been scouring that ADVrider thread, nice search. The limited size for the 9" & 12" wheels are a challenge, I am clearly going to consider alt size from original
There is a paragraph in the NH laws that says a trail bike that is registered for road use does not need certain features if it did not originally come with it. Such as blinkers, etc
Rsa215a, section 35-39
I'm still trying to figure out how this factors into a motorcycle inspection though. Like do I still get a normal bike inspection sticker, and they just disregard those items?
Then again my wife will be riding it on the streets, not having her need to remember to use hand signals would be best
So the inspection form you attached actually references that RSA215a, makes sense.
I would make sure to print a copy of Sections 35-39, and also Section 14 to bring with you. Then you can show the legal requirements of what the bike has and does not have/need. According to the RSA, you don't actually need a switched brake light either. Just a solid-on tail light like included on most enduro bikes.
As I'm typing this, I think I'm going to print a copy of those sections to keep on the bike this summer, just in case I get hassled.
I picked up a 200xcw back in the fall that I plan to plate this year, so I've been digging through all the requirements myself, too. I've already got a title though, so the largest part of the battle is done.
That could be worth adding the blinkers and brake light, etc in itself. Just wanted to be clear above about what is legally required vs. "desired" features.

Well it is registered, I now have a VT tag while living in NH. Hand guards w/directionals from my Hyper will go on this weekend, I have the brake light actuating handle from Amazon in a box and the rest of road legal items being collected.
