Can someone tell me what this means?
tire
I'm looking for a rear tire for my KLR650 - 130/80-17 and I can't tell what this description is telling me. I've never bought dual sport tires before so this is all new to me.

hey will do a google search for a tire size conversion chart.
or use this one
Motorcycle Tire Size Conversion, Speed Ratings, Load Ratings Chart - webBikeWorld
the 130 is the width of the tire the 80 is the profile ( how high above the rim it is and the 17 is the size of the rim.
so to find the right size you would need to know what the decimil translates to , the chart should tell you what 3.00 ( inches) translates to in metric 130 , 140 , 150 etc.

re: KLR tires
Suggest you just go with the OE-spec Dunlops. They stick well enough to drag pegs when on pavement, and they work well enough off-road anywhere a KLR might belong (NOT sand, and NOT mud). I used to get them for about $80/pair. Use an OE parts suplier, like Bike Bandit, to look up the part #. I was able to get mine through a local dealer for nearly the same price.
